Schools

TVA works with early years, primary and secondary schools, PRUs & colleges; with gifted and talented students, students with special needs, disengaged learners & those at risk of exclusion, and not forgetting those who are steadily getting on, but are sometimes overlooked.
We deliver ‘pure arts’, where an excellent artistic process and outcome is the main focus, but more often than not, arts are the medium – as a tool of engagement and learning across the curriculum. Science and environmental learning through the arts is a particular area of expertise, but we also deliver activity which can address all areas of the curriculum, as well as whole-school issues such as behaviour & attendance.
TVA can work with you in a number of different ways:
Off-the-shelf

Joe Dunne, our Heritage and Environment Officer, offers a range of one-off visual arts workshops for all Key Stages, looking at recycling, habitats and minibeasts, carbon footprints amongst other things. Click here for Primary and here for Secondary
Cost: £200 + VAT for a half-day session
Outdoor Environmental Learning through the Arts workshops at Hemlington Hall Farm & Lake 2012
TVA funded programmes

We devise creative educational projects of varying scale and with varying focus. We often devise these projects with teachers, advisers and other specialists and then source appropriate funding for them, meaning schools can apply to participate for a highly subsidised rate.
Our current programme is Green TV – environmental learning through the arts and is suitable for Primary and Secondary schools. To see more about this project click here

Bespoke Projects

We can work with you to design a bespoke or tailored project/ programme to suit the needs of staff and students - whether it’s a series of workshops, a week long residency, or a full year of activity (or anything in-between). We can work with a range of budgets, and if needed, we are happy to look at sourcing funding with you.

Training

TVA delivers Arts Award Adviser Training for Bronze and Silver (Level 1 and 2 qualification) and Gold (Level 3 qualification – 35 UCAS points). We run public training dates throughout the year – click here for booking and can also offer in-house training. If you have 8 or more people to be trained (and you may want to ‘share’ with one of your partner schools), then in-house is more cost effective.

CPD
Within our funded programmes, we often build-in CPD for teachers and school staff but we can also work with you to deliver stand-alone CPD. This might be with a ‘pure arts’ focus – e.g. gaining skills in drawing & using different materials such as charcoal or looking at using drama techniques to deliver cross-curricular subjects. Sessions can be delivered within curriculum time or as twilights after school, exploring creative approaches to teaching and learning and giving staff the confidence and skills to try new things.
