Flock and Grayling

coming to rest near Tees Barrage

Tees Valley Arts is delighted to announce that two exciting artworks interpreting the wonderful and distinctive wildlife that surrounds the Tees Barrage will be unveiled on Monday 11th June 2012.

Flock and Grayling, two unique artworks by local artist Adrian Moule, will be officially unveiled by David Lindo, the ‘Urban Birder’ and broadcaster, who can be seen and heard on BBC programmes such as The One Show, Springwatch, Radio 4 & BBC Breakfast. These artworks have been produced as part of the Green Tees Valley project, managed by Tees Valley Arts and funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Flock is a collection of silhouettes depicting birds that can be found at Portrack Marsh (Stockton), and Grayling is a 30ft high butterfly mobile, gently moving in the breeze at Maze Park (Middlesbrough).

This event is a part of a series of celebration and unveiling events on wildlife sites across the Tees Valley marking the end of the highly successful Green TV project. Some beautiful windsocks, designed by artist Bethan Maddocks, will also be on site. Bethan worked with pupils and students in Redcar to create the windsocks, which work as portable sculptures.

Pupils from Sacred Heart Primary School, Middlesbrough, who took part in Green TV and helped develop the artworks will be on site, and will take part in a variety of arts and environmental activities led by artist Adrian and the Tees Valley Wildlife Trust. These activities are for everyone to take part in, come along and join us!
