INTUNE: Youtopia

INTUNE book cover

Youtopia

dawn dribbles its rays
onto solar panelled roads
the town wakes to a new song
old song, ready to revise itself
offshore turbines spin blades
in winds that bring fresh breath
we listen to their tales
in translated tongues
the tide of patience
plays its rhythmic pulse
recycling reflections
we do not mourn
the death of debt
grass grows, knowing
its freedom we sip dawn’s rays
straight from warming air
greet time as our father’s father
sand and soil as brother, sister
i am here in skin wrapped flesh
not ghosted by a number
each day we craft our straw men
wheat women, corn children
each dusk we set them alight
and dream as they burn
