WorldFest 08

WorldFest 08 is set to be a celebration of the wider world brought to the Tees Valley for our local enjoyment – celebrating our diversity with an added global dimension. Worldfest will consist of a number of events, some youth or community based, some with headline acts.

Nuit d’Afrique, Thursday 22nd May, Arc Stockton, 7.30 – 11pm

  • Kanda Bongo Man and his legendary soukous band (one of John Peel’s all time favourites)
  • Kasai Masai – the sound of the African village with an urban twist

WorldFest Youth Event, Saturday May 24th, Middlesbrough Town Hall Crypt, 1- 3pm

A showcase of young performers, dancers, artists and musicians from diverse backgrounds from across the Tees Valley
Celebrate with us!

Gala Night, Saturday May 24th, Middlesbrough Town Hall, 7.30 – 12pm

  • Les Amazones de Guinée – 13-woman troupe of master drummers – all woman, all African, all army! Headlining the WorldFest before playing Trafalgar Square at London Africa Day
  • Beta Simon Band – stars of west African reggae
