“Word Explosion”, a group of young Teesside writers have transformed a shop front in Corporation Road into the Rag Pickers grotto. With the help of Middlesbrough Environment City and Buzzwords at Cleveland Arts these young people have used the story of “Ragtime” to create new and exciting things from waste products.
They have captured the essence of the broken or found object – looking at it with fresh eyes, creating stimulating poetry, stories and images.
A simple but exciting idea, the broken objects on the carpet under the chair, is taken off the floor and brought to the wall in a fairy tale narrative.
