Hartlepool Online Day

Where? When?

Hartlepool Central Library, York Road / Sunday Nov 21st from 12:00 noon to 3:00pm.

After the success of the Family Learning Day held in the Central Library in early October ‘Hartlepool Online Day’ is to be held in the Central Library, York Road on Sunday, November 21st from 12:00 noon to 3:00pm. This is part of a regional promotion called NorthEast Online.

“The library seems to have the right atmosphere and mix. Craft activities and early learning materials alongside the Internet, computers and books mean there’s something absorbing for all members of the family and all ages.”

“We all know that learning works best when you enjoy it. The atmosphere in the library seems to let people relax and explore learning at their own pace”

Graham Jarritt, Hartlepool Borough Libraries

The day is organised in partnership with Hartlepool Adult Education Department and Cleveland Arts.

People will be able to book free BBC WebWise taster sessions to learn how to use the Internet and receive help from a qualified tutor.

Computers, the Internet and email are available to the public as well as the normal library book lending and reference services.

Cleveland Arts will be running an ‘Objects of Desire’ digital art and poetry workshop and will be displaying the creations from their previous workshop held in the library. People wishing to take part in this are asked to bring in a small favourite object.

There will be activities for children including a craft session with a Christmas theme, badge making and story times.

The café will be open.

The event is open to everybody and all events can be accessed by wheelchair. Anybody who feels they may have any other disability preventing them participating should contact Graham Jarritt at the library. We will do all we can to solve any difficulties. Library staff will be on hand to deal with any queries and to assist in using the computer facilities.

To book a free WebWise session with tutor ring (01429) 263778 or call in at the Central Library, York Road. There will be further tutored sessions on Saturday Nov. 27th and Saturday Dec. 4th.
