Worldfest Gala Night

Saturday May 24th, Middlesbrough Town Hall, 7.30 – 12pm

The culmination of the WorldFest festivities, celebrating local diversity with an added global dimension, will welcome two headline acts:-

  • Gregory Isaacs and Live Wyya – ‘Cool Ruler’ and veteran, Jamaican-born reggae star of ‘Night Nurse’ fame, Gregory Isaacs headlines. Rightly renowned for his crowd-thrilling, ‘rude boy’ performances, he proffers much more than just a cabaret style romp through past glories. The concert also brings the talents of backing band Live Wyya who were recently voted best backing band at the 27th International Reggae and World Music Awards which took place at the Apollo Theatre in New York City.
  • Beta Simon – star of African reggae from the Ivory Coast making his UK debut.
  • As a late night extra, you can also boogie to Beta Simon and his Band in the Town Hall Crypt, from 11.30pm to 12.30am (over 18s only).

Rowena Sommerville, Director of Programmes at Tees Valley Arts commented “We are delighted to have living legend Gregory Isaacs headline our Festival – be there and be amazed!
