Remembering Gordon Hodgeon
Back when we were Cleveland Arts, Gordon was involved with us through poetry and literature development. We are saddened to hear the news of his recent passing and we would like to give our thanks and pay tribute to Gordon for his contribution to the organisation.
An obituary for Gordon Hodgeon was featured in the Guardian in September by his friend Andy Croft.
My friend Gordon Hodgeon, who has died aged 75, was a poet, teacher, teacher-trainer and arts activist and a hugely influential figure in the worlds of education, publishing and poetry in the north-east for 40 years. Towards the end of his life, profoundly disabled, he produced some outstanding poetry while able to communicate with the world only by blinking.
